Kan Mi-yeon originally debuted through the popular girl group Baby V.O.X. in 1997 replacing existing member, Cha Yu-mi, who incurred injuries during a performance. She was considered not only the main and best vocalist in the group, but also had the image of being a "princess" due to her cute and comical traits. The group hit number one with their first single album and attained widespread popularity in not only Korea, but China, Japan, and other Southeast Asian countries.

Baby V.O.X. has since disbanded after Kan decided to pursue a solo career in 2006. She released her first solo album in 2006 in Korea, but started to focus more on her fanbase in China soon after. She studied Mandarin and reached a significant level of success through mainstream Chinese TV shows and music performances. One of her most notable feats in China was when she won a famous singing competition in China in 2007. It was a feat that shot her into even more stardom, securing her as a successful artist in China.

Kan finally made it back to her home country in 2010 after three longs years. Despite the haitus, Kan proved that she still was hot in the kpop industry through her song "Going Crazy". The music video featured a couple of the members from popular boy idol group, MBLAQ, and was ranked as the most watched music video on the day of its release on Youtube and GomTV.

Aside from her singing hat, Kan also wears a fashion designing hat and CEO hat. She launched her own online fashion store and brand "Kanderella" in July of 2010.
